Rwanda Security Forces launch community development activities ahead of Liberation Day
The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and the Rwanda National Police (RNP) have launched nationwide community outreach activities aimed at improving the livelihoods of citizens as part of preparations to mark the 32nd anniversary of Liberation Day.
The activities, carried out under the theme “Partnership between Citizens, the Rwanda Defence Force and the Rwanda National Police in the Celebration of Kwibohora32,” are being implemented across different parts of the country with the participation of senior government officials and security leaders.
Speaking during the launch of the programme in Nyagatare District, the Minister of Internal Security, Dr. Vincent Biruta, said the initiative reflects the continued commitment of security institutions to support the welfare and development of Rwandans.
He explained that the programme will include a range of activities such as providing medical services to residents, environmental conservation efforts, construction of public infrastructure, building schools and early childhood development centres, supporting livestock farming, constructing houses for vulnerable families and assisting cooperatives.
The Minister noted that such initiatives demonstrate the dedication of security institutions to strengthening both national security and the well-being of communities while accelerating the country’s development.
Similar activities were also launched in other parts of the country. In Kamonyi District, the Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 10 classrooms, administrative offices and a laboratory at Kigese Technical Secondary School in Rugalika Sector.
He said the annual programme brings together security institutions, local leaders and residents to strengthen collaboration and promote community-driven development. According to him, sustainable security cannot be achieved without the active participation of citizens.
In Kigali City, the Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana, together with the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Administration and Personnel, DCG Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, laid the foundation stone for the construction of 15 classrooms at Groupe Scolaire Rwankuba in Kinyinya Sector, Nyarugenge District.
Nsengimana said the project will help improve learning conditions for students and enable teachers to deliver quality education.
In Gatsibo District, residents joined security officials in a tree-planting exercise aimed at promoting environmental protection, while in Nyabihu District the Inspector General of Police, CG Felix Namuhoranye, joined military leaders to launch the construction of houses that will benefit vulnerable families.
Security leaders emphasized that safeguarding the country goes hand in hand with improving the daily lives of citizens, noting that such community initiatives strengthen the bond between the population and national institutions.
Similar activities carried out last year provided medical services to more than 30,000 residents, constructed houses for vulnerable families, built bridges and established early childhood classrooms in several communities across the country.
