Rwanda’s Ambassador to Mali, Festus Bizimana, on May 7 officially presented his Letters of Credence to the Head of State of Mali, General Assimi Goïta, during a formal ceremony held in the capital, Bamako.

The presentation of credentials marks another step in the growing diplomatic engagement between Rwanda and Mali, whose bilateral relations continue to expand across several strategic sectors.

Rwanda and Mali maintain strong diplomatic ties built on friendship, solidarity, and a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Over the past decade, both nations have deepened collaboration through a series of bilateral initiatives and agreements aimed at promoting mutual development and regional cooperation.

Several agreements signed between Kigali and Bamako cover key sectors including air services, digital transformation, health, investment, agriculture, mining, tourism, defence, environment, education, justice, and visa exemption.

During his visit to Bamako, Ambassador Bizimana also joined members of the diplomatic corps in a briefing session chaired by Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdoulaye Diop. The discussions focused on the country’s security situation following the violent attacks reported on April 25, 2026.

The engagement reflects Rwanda’s continued commitment to strengthening diplomatic partnerships across Africa and enhancing cooperation on peace, security, and socio-economic development.
