Final day drama marks the end of 2025/26 premier league season
This weekend concluded the 2025/26 Premier League season, with all matches kicking off at 5 p.m Kigali time, Arsenal topped off with a win at Selhurst Park, Chelsea missed out on European qualification while Spurs avoided relegation.
Arsenal finished the season as Premier League champions, ending a 22-year drought after an outstanding campaign under Mikel Arteta. Gunners wrapped up the season with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Noni Maduke.
Manchester United finished third with three-nil win against Brighton as Bruno Fernandes made history by registering his 21st assist of the season for Dorgu's goal in the 32nd minute, eventually breaking the Premier League most single-season assists record previously held with both legends Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
For Chelsea FC, it was a forgettable final day after another 2-1 defeat saw them end the campaign with just 52 points — the club’s lowest Premier League tally since the 1996/97 season. This loss led to Sunderland qualifying for UEFA Europe League while the Blues missed on Eurpean qualification in the 10th place.
Meanwhile, Totthenham Hotspurs survived relegation after edging Everton 1-0. João Palhinha scored in the 42nd minute, finding the net after his initial header struck the post. The victory ensured Spurs avoided relegation in one of the club’s most dramatic & controversial seasons in recent years.
