Rwandan peacekeepers boost youth development with renovated basketball court in Central African Republic
Rwandan peacekeepers serving under RWABAT-2 in Bossembele, Central African Republic, handed over a rehabilitated basketball court to the local community as part of ongoing efforts to support youth development and strengthen ties with residents.
The handover ceremony was officiated by RWABAT-2 Contingent Commander, Col Laurent Munana Kalisa, alongside Bossembele Sous-Préfète Ms. Beatrice. The event also included the donation of sports equipment and scholastic materials to local youth.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ms. Beatrice commended RWABAT-2 for its continuous support toward community development and the promotion of sports activities in Bossembele.
She particularly appreciated the rehabilitation of the basketball court and the donation of educational and sports materials, saying the support would encourage young people to actively engage in sports and education.
The event further featured friendly sports matches organized to promote peace, unity, youth empowerment, and stronger civil-military cooperation between MINUSCA peacekeepers and the local community.
Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) have continued to play a key role in supporting local communities through development and social initiatives.
