U.S. President Donald Trump has concluded his state visit to China after two days of high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, with both leaders describing the meetings as productive despite lingering tensions over trade, Taiwan and global security issues.

One of the major outcomes of the summit was a series of proposed trade agreements aimed at stabilizing relations between the world’s two largest economies. President Trump claimed that China had agreed to purchase around 200 Boeing aircraft along with larger quantities of American agricultural products including soybeans and energy supplies. U.S. officials said the agreements could lead to billions of dollars in trade opportunities for American companies and farmers.

The leaders also discussed rising tensions in the Middle East, especially the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Trump stated that both Washington and Beijing agreed that Iran should not obtain nuclear weapons and that the strategically important Strait of Hormuz must remain open for global oil shipments. China also confirmed that the two sides exchanged views on regional security and international stability.

Taiwan remained one of the most sensitive issues during the summit. Xi Jinping reportedly warned that mishandling the Taiwan issue could lead to serious confrontation between the two powers. Despite the warning, Trump avoided direct criticism of Beijing’s position during public appearances, signaling a softer diplomatic tone during the visit.

The visit also carried strong diplomatic symbolism. Xi hosted Trump inside Zhongnanhai, the highly restricted leadership compound at the center of the Chinese government, in what observers described as a rare gesture of trust. The two leaders attended official ceremonies and held private discussions focused on improving long-term relations between Washington and Beijing.

Before departing Beijing aboard Air Force One, Trump announced that Xi Jinping had accepted an invitation to visit the White House later this year. Although the summit did not resolve all disputes between the two countries, both governments described the talks as an important step toward maintaining dialogue and avoiding further tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
