President Kagame and Gabon’s President Oligui Nguema hold talks at Africa CEO Forum
President Paul Kagame held a series of high-level meetings with African and international business leaders on May 14, 2026, on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum taking place in Kigali.
Among the leaders he met was Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, with whom he discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and Gabon in areas including trade, economic development and knowledge exchange.
President Kagame also met with the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, the President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Abdullah Almusaibeeh, Africa Global Logistics Group (AGL) President Philippe Labonne, and Airbus Africa & Middle East President Gabriel Sémelas Gord.
Their discussions focused on enhancing partnerships and expanding investment opportunities that support Rwanda’s national development agenda, particularly in infrastructure, logistics, transport and economic transformation.
Rwanda and Gabon maintain longstanding bilateral relations and cooperation in several sectors, including aviation through RwandAir flights to Libreville. The two countries first signed cooperation agreements in 1976, which were later updated in 2010.
The partnership gained new momentum in October 2023 when President Oligui Nguema visited Rwanda and held talks with President Kagame focused on expanding cooperation in education, agriculture, trade, technology and economic development.
