Uganda Parliament Speaker wears outfit worth over RWF 17 Million at Museveni Inauguration
The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Anita Among, attracted public attention after appearing in an outfit valued at over RWF 17 million during the swearing-in ceremony of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The inauguration ceremony took place on May 12, 2026, at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala. The event brought together several heads of state, government officials, and political leaders from both Uganda and abroad.
Anita Among arrived wearing a yellow dress and a matching coat designed by the fashion house Oscar de la Renta from the Dominican Republic.
The coat alone costs about RWF 7,662,800, while the dress is valued at around RWF 9,966,300, bringing the total cost to approximately RWF 17,629,100.
Among is considered one of Uganda’s wealthiest politicians and is often known for her high-end lifestyle, including luxury homes and vehicles.
In recent months, she also made headlines following reports that she had purchased a Rolls-Royce Cullinan worth around $400,000. However, Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, commented on the reports, saying neither he nor President Museveni uses such a vehicle.
Anita Among continues to draw public debate as discussions grow about whether she will retain confidence to continue leading the Ugandan Parliament.
