The U.S. Military fired on an Iranian oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman on Wednesday, escalating tensions with Tehran. President Donald Trump warned Iran that it could face a new wave of bombing if it refused to accept a proposed deal to end the war.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), an American fighter jet disabled the tanker's rudder after the vessel allegedly attempted to break through a U.S. imposed blockade on Iranian ports. Iran later said it was reviewing the latest proposals from Washington.

The incident occurred despite an official ceasefire between both countries following two months of fighting. In a social media post, Trump claimed the conflict could soon end and that disrupted oil and natural gas shipments could resume. However, he insisted this depended on Iran agreeing to terms he did not publicly explain. "If they don't agree, the bombing starts," he wrote.

Meanwhile, Israel launched strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut for the first time since a ceasefire with the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group was announced on April 17. Fighting has nevertheless continued in parts of southern Lebanon.
