EAC launches USHIRIKIANO IMARA 2026 Military exercises in Nairobi
The 14th East African Community Armed Forces Command Post Exercise, known as USHIRIKIANO IMARA 2026, has officially commenced at the Humanitarian Peace Support School in Embakasi, Nairobi.
Reinforcing regional efforts to promote peace, security, and military cooperation among EAC Partner States.
The three-week exercise is being conducted under the theme “Enhancing Regional Cooperation and Readiness for Peace, Security, and Resilience.” It brings together armed forces, police units, civilian experts, and other stakeholders from across the region to strengthen collective security mechanisms and improve operational readiness in addressing evolving security threats.
Participating countries include Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Uganda, and Tanzania, while Somalia is taking part as an observer state.
A total of 342 participants drawn from military, police, civilian components, and regional peace and security institutions are involved in the exercise.
The initiative reflects the East African Community’s continued commitment to strengthening collaboration among member states in tackling regional security challenges and promoting stability across the region.
