President Kagame promotes 742 RCS Staff, 296 dismissed
President Paul Kagame has promoted 742 offciers of the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS) and also dismissed others working within the institution.
In a statement issued by RCS, those promoted include senior officers, junior officers, non-commissioned officers, and warders.
Among senior officers, 46 officials who previously held the rank of Superintendent have been promoted to Senior Superintendent.
Among junior officers, 37 Chief Inspectors were promoted to Superintendent; 18 Inspectors were elevated to Chief Inspector, while 10 Assistant Inspectors were promoted to Inspector.
Among non-commissioned officers and warders, 188 Senior Sergeants were promoted to Chief Sergeant; 67 Sergeants were promoted to Senior Sergeant; 48 Corporals were promoted to Sergeant; and 328 Warders were promoted to Corporal.
The statement also noted that the President of the Republic placed several RCS staff into retirement, including Assistant Commissioner Moses Ntawiheba, Senior Superintendent Christine Aloys Gakuba, and Superintendent Josephine Nyiranteziryayo. An additional 22 other staff members, including non-commissioned officers, were also retired.
President Kagame also reinstated five senior and junior officers into civilian life.
The statement further said that 296 RCS employees were dismissed, including six senior officers, 13 junior officers, and 277 non-commissioned officers and warders.
