Rwanda has officially signed a host agreement with the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) to stage the 47th edition of the African Men’s Volleyball Club Championship, scheduled to take place in Kigali from April 20 to May 3, 2026.

The agreement was signed through the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) during a ceremony held at the Kigali Convention Centre on Thursday, March 5.

The continental tournament, held annually, brings together top-performing men’s volleyball clubs from across Africa. The 2026 edition is expected to feature 24 teams competing for the title and a place on the global stage.

The signing ceremony was attended by the President of FRVB, Raphaël Ngarambe, and the President of CAVB, Bouchra Hajij, alongside several sports leaders.

Ngarambe said Rwanda is proud to host the prestigious championship, noting that it will provide an opportunity to showcase the country’s progress in developing volleyball and organizing major sporting events.

She also highlighted the country’s visa facilitation policies that make it easier for athletes and officials across Africa to travel and participate in events hosted in Rwanda.

The Minister of Sports, Nelly Mukazayire, who attended the ceremony, expressed gratitude to CAVB for trusting Rwanda with the tournament. She emphasized that the country is ready to welcome teams and volleyball fans from across the continent.

“As hosts, we are proud to welcome 24 of the continent’s top clubs and provide them with an environment where they can showcase their talent at the highest level,” she said.

As the host nation, Rwanda is expected to be represented by four teams based on their performance in the national league. These include APR Volleyball Club, Police Volleyball Club, REG Volleyball Club and Kepler Volleyball Club.

In the previous edition held in Libya in 2025, Al-Swehly Sports Club claimed the championship title, while APR VC finished fourth.
