Rwanda Embassy in Qatar moves services online amid rising Middle East security tensions
The Embassy of Rwanda in Doha has announced that it has temporarily moved its services online due to growing security concerns in the Middle East.
In a statement released on March 4, 2026, the embassy said it would continue providing assistance to the public through digital platforms until further notice.
“Due to the current security situation, the Embassy of Rwanda in Doha will operate online until further notice,” the statement read, assuring Rwandans and other clients that services will remain available despite the temporary adjustment.
The decision comes as tensions escalate in the Middle East following military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, 2026. In response, Iran warned it would retaliate against countries hosting U.S. military bases in the region.
Since then, Iran has launched attacks targeting several locations in the Middle East, including Qatar, which hosts a major U.S. military base. The escalating situation has disrupted various activities in the region, including air travel and business operations.
The security developments have also affected aviation services. Rwanda’s national carrier, RwandAir, earlier announced the suspension of its flights to and from Doha in Qatar and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates due to the ongoing attacks.
Despite the situation, the Rwandan Embassy emphasized that it remains committed to supporting Rwandans and other individuals who require its services while monitoring the evolving security conditions in the region.
