Rwanda’s Prime Minister arrives in Arusha for 25th EAC heads of state summit

Rwanda’s Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva has arrived in Arusha, Tanzania, where he will represent President Paul Kagame at the 25th Ordinary Summit of the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State.


The summit is scheduled to take place on 7 March 2026 at the Arusha International Conference Centre, bringing together leaders from EAC member states to discuss key institutional matters affecting the regional bloc.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva was received by Dennis L. Londo, Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, alongside Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Tanzania, Amb. Gen. (Rtd) Patrick Nyamvumba.

During the summit, the Heads of State are expected to deliberate on several institutional issues within the EAC. These include the appointment of a new Chairperson of the EAC, the selection of a new Secretary General, the appointment of judges to the East African Court of Justice, and the renewal of Deputy Secretaries General.

The EAC Heads of State Summit is the highest decision-making body of the regional organization and plays a key role in shaping cooperation among member states in areas such as governance, economic integration, and regional development.
