The Rwandan Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced plans to assist Rwandan citizens in the UAE and Bahrain who wish to return home due to escalating conflict in the Middle East.

On March 6, 2026, the Embassy stated that it is coordinating with the national carrier, RwandAir, and other relevant authorities to arrange evacuation flights.

"The Embassy informs all Rwandans that it is working closely with RwandAir and relevant agencies to organize safe travel. Citizens wishing to return home are encouraged to register with the Embassy as soon as possible," the statement read.

So far, no Rwandan nationals have been affected by the ongoing hostilities, and the Embassy affirmed that it remains ready to provide all necessary support to its citizens.

The conflict began on February 28, 2026, when the United States and Israel launched air and missile strikes on Tehran, prompting retaliation by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Since then, Iran has targeted Israel and several other Middle Eastern countries, including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Syria, aiming to damage military and strategic infrastructure.

Reports indicate significant collateral damage to civilian infrastructure, including airports, hotels, and oil and gas facilities. Casualty reports from the Red Crescent humanitarian organization indicate that, as of March 6, U.S. and Israeli attacks in Iran have claimed 1,332 lives.

RwandAir is expected to manage the evacuation of Rwandans who wish to leave the UAE and Bahrain. The Embassy continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as arrangements progress.
