RIB Spokesperson Dr. Murangira urged citizens to stay vigilant to avoid different forms of fraud
The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, presented two suspects accused of committing serious crimes including fraud and sexual abuse against young girls after allegedly luring them with promises of jobs.
The two men, aged 27 and 31, are being investigated for multiple offenses including fraud, defilement, forcing someone into sexual intercourse and forming or joining a criminal group.
While presenting the suspects, RIB spokesperson Dr. Murangira B. Thierry emphasized that the bureau will not tolerate individuals who threaten the safety and well-being of citizens.
“We want to assure the public that we will not relent in fighting crime. We have the capacity, the collaboration and the determination to pursue criminals until the end,” he said.
Murangira stressed that RIB will continue to pursue individuals involved in crimes that destabilize communities, warning that those who break the law will face strict legal consequences.
“There will be no more warnings. This is the first and the last time we are issuing such a warning. Anyone suspected of wrongdoing will be summoned and investigated accordingly,” he added.
The RIB spokesperson also cautioned some sports commentators and media personalities whose discussions may incite hatred among their audiences, noting that authorities will begin summoning those found spreading harmful narratives.
In addition, Murangira urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious, particularly when interacting with strangers who may attempt to deceive them with promises of employment or other opportunities.
“We see cases where people trust strangers they meet in bus parks and end up following them to unknown places. Citizens must remain cautious and verify information before trusting such individuals,” he warned.
RIB continues to encourage the public to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities in order to prevent crime and ensure the safety of communities.
