On 24 March 2026, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Rwanda, CG Felix Namuhoranye, visited Nairobi, Kenya, where he held discussions with his Kenyan counterpart, Douglas Kanja.

The talks focused on enhancing collaboration between the police forces of Rwanda and Kenya through knowledge sharing and joint operations in areas of mutual interest.

Both leaders also discussed the preparation of formal cooperation agreements and agreed to work together on combating cross-border and emerging crimes.

During the visit, CG Namuhoranye invited IGP Kanja to the celebrations in May marking the 25th anniversary of the Rwanda National Police.

The visit included tours of Kenya’s Police Training Institutions, including the National Police Service Senior Staff College in Emali and the National Police College in Kiganjo. At both institutions, the Rwandan IGP engaged with training staff and cadets to align programmes with contemporary policing needs.

Rwanda and Kenya maintain ongoing cooperation across several sectors, including security. Last November, Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Charles Muriu Kahariri, visited Rwanda and held talks with Gen Mubaraka Muganga, Rwanda’s Chief of Defence.
