Rwanda is set to deploy a new contingent of police officers to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic.

They will replace fellow Rwandan officers currently serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic.

Before their departure, the officers received a briefing from the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Vincent Sano, at the headquarters of the Rwanda National Police in Kacyiru.

During the briefing, CP Sano reminded the contingent that previous Rwandan police units serving in the mission had represented the country with distinction.

He encouraged the officers to build on that legacy and continue upholding Rwanda’s reputation for professionalism in international peacekeeping operations.

He also emphasized that while serving abroad, the officers act as ambassadors of Rwanda and must perform their duties with integrity and discipline. CP Sano stressed the importance of teamwork to ensure they effectively fulfill their responsibilities during the mission.

Rwanda currently has four police contingents deployed under the UN mission in the Central African Republic, operating in several locations including Bangui and Bangassou, where they support peacekeeping, security, and community protection efforts.
