Amb. Urujeni Bakuramutsa presents credentials to Austria’s President
Rwanda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Amb. Urujeni Bakuramutsa, officially presented her credentials to the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, authorizing him to represent Rwanda in Austria.
The ceremony took place on 10 March 2026 at the Hofburg Presidential Palace in Vienna, symbolizing the ongoing strong relations between the two countries.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation across various sectors. During her visit, Amb. Bakuramutsa met with several Austrian officials to discuss ways to enhance collaboration in key areas such as trade, investment, innovation, tourism, culture, and other forms of bilateral cooperation.
On 9 March 2026, Amb. Bakuramutsa had handed over copies of his credentials to Nikolaus Marschik, Secretary General of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Europe.
She also met with Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, Special Representative of the Austrian Chancellor, to explore opportunities for further collaboration and development of bilateral relations.
In 2022, Rwanda and Austria signed an air transport agreement aimed at facilitating travel, particularly for business purposes. The agreement also addresses regulations, fares, and other aspects of bilateral air transport.
Amb. Bakuramutsa’s visit highlights Rwanda’s continued efforts to strengthen diplomatic and development ties with Austria.
